Bonsai Shaping and Branch Bending
The annealed copper bonsai training wire is ideal for bending thick branches or shaping the bonsai tree trunk. Copper wire is not as flexible as aluminum wire and can be work hardened quickly. But precisely because of the holding strength, it is great when you try to bend the trunk into new positions, as it will keep shape better.
Benefits of Annealed Copper
The copper is annealed by heating to a temperature that softens the bonsai wire. This process makes the wire easier to bend and hold branches well without requiring a high gauge, as it would happen if you used aluminum wire.. Annealed copper also tends to fade to a dull brown and match the bonsai trunk, so it’s not intrusive and more aesthetically pleasing and the viewer can see more of the tree.
2 Sizes Available
Depending on your bonsai tree needs and the thickness of the branches and trunk you can select different sizes. For twigs use a small 1.2mm size while for thick branches and tree trunks, use better a large 1.6 mm. When in doubt, remember to always choose a bonsai wire that is 1/3 the thickness of the branch.
